Some News Or Something
Introducing...
And so we begin. Welcome to this great undertaking, the very first installment of ‘The Some News or Something’ Blog. I will be your host for the twenty or so seconds that it will take for you to become bored or possibly outraged and never come back. My name is Alex and I am the Often Special Guest. If you’re in anyway acquainted with the show, I am the one laughing at Joe’s, or more often my own, jokes. If you’re not a listener, get the podcasts and become a member of the SNOS family, you’ll only regret half as much as the drink that tips you from pleasantly tipsy to mewling puke monster.
Some of you may be asking, what the point of this blog is, the rest of you should be, really. I mean come on! a bit of independent thought would be a plus.
As it stands, and it barely does so, there is very little point to this blog. I was asked to do it since I have the time and input very little to the show. I suspect this is either some part of May’s plan to become a media supremo and I was all that was to hand. Or that they think I’ll do something stupid out of boredom, which is likely; I have already tried to insult some of you. I will be keeping this as close to the original intent of the show as I can. Maybe we will cover some other things, like the broadsheet’s coverage for example, but feel free to let me know what you‘d like to see. Rest assured it will never, ever devolve into a maudlin whine about my life in general, like so many other blogs, because frankly that’s not interesting.
Remember this is not a newspaper column, it is a column on newspapers and a comment piece. It might even be a polemic at times. I will not always portray every side of an problem, I will not always (perhaps not even often) be right. This column will be my views honestly portrayed, nothing more. As with suggestions for the show or the blog contact us at somenews@rarefm.co.uk; let me know what your view on a topic is.
Now, you might be asking yourself, if you’ve made it this far, what gives me the right to write this? What special experience or expertise do I have that allows to spout at, and sometimes insult, you? Well I have absolutely none of these. This will be the first time that I show any writing of mine for public appraisal or entertainment outside of essays. If you read some of the essays that I have turned in over the years you‘d have a firm grasp on the difference between laughable and humorous. Again please feel free to disagree with me, since on the show we like to encourage healthy debate and the conflict of ideas, so in the end we might be a little better or at least a little angrier than we were before. That will continue here, I hope.
Finally, don’t hold it against me, but I doubt this will be as funny as the show.
