Governance Review Interviews 2007

| | Comments (0)

The Governance Review has been a hot topic, and hot issue, for over a year now at UCL Union. In a series of interviews done in December 2007, May-Li Seah talks to different groups to try and find out what the issue is.

Firstly there are two interviews with the current print media of UCL Union, The Cheese Grater’s then Editor Mark Ravinet and the Pi Media Society’s President Jamal Saleh. This is to try and get the experienced media savvy types to give us insight into the issue.

We then have an interview with three of the Sabbatical officers to get some clarification of terminology and how they feel they are overcoming the issues. They are Andy Fernando, the Education and Welfare Officer, Sean Clothier, the Media and Communications Officer, and Olivia Alford, the Services and Events Officer.

Finally we have an interview with Jeremy Harris, a member of Save Democracy at UCL, which is heavily opposed to the Governance Review.

At the time of interview the points, the motion ‘Hands off our UCL’ had not yet gone through. As it now stands, the motion did go through council. For these current elections, the Governance Review and the proposed referendum have been put on hold. The Sabbatical Officer positions, as you may have noticed, were changed by Union Council so that the issues that the Sabbatical officers discussed with respects to their roles have now been addressed.
