Snow Patrol - Just Say Yes
Just Say Yes, released as a part of Snow Patrol’s "greatest hits" compilation, Up to Now, is supposed to point towards electronica as the band’s new source of inspiration, and with lead singer Gary Lightbody announcing his ‘obsession’ with LCD Soundsystem, there is definitely much to expect from the track. Indeed, if you try hard enough, the beat might remind you of 'All My Friends' but this is probably the only similarity. Continuing with the comparison, as much as Murphy and his band try to surprise the listener and usually manage to stay ‘fresh’, Snow Patrol remain extremely safe: there were moments when I had the impression that this was just a previously unreleased track from Eyes Open, played in a slo-mo. Hurray-optimistic lyrics about nothing, musical conservatism – the trademarks of good old Snow Patrol are still here. All in all the foretaste of the next album offered by the song is not promising: the longplay is probably going to satisfy only die-hard fans. Just as the single does.
