Wraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Wraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Fancy lads in fancy pants, skinny jeans, pearls, polka dots and bouffant hairdos all around, the Garage on the 12th of September was a myriad of cool kids gathered there to mosh, scream, kick, beat, rip, jump and get x-x-x-cited at new thrashy kids on the block, the Test-icicles.
The band is composed of three, incredibly cute and shambolic, spazzy punk metalers, full of youth and ferocious energy. Upon coming on stage, they don’t beat around the bush, they immediately start to throw up an impressive splurge of clamour.
Wraaaaaah!
With hard metal, punk, indie, hardcore, electro and hip hop influences all swashed up, the band put on a furious, deboucherous, chaotic performance. At times sounding as if someone has ‘tested’ their ‘icicles’a bit too much, the band don’t really seem to know what they’re doing or what style to settle on, nor do they care. This messy, noise splurging show could well be improvised right there and then. They all take turns at vomiting noise and swapping instuments, equipment and front stage rock antics and who could blame them? This is their moment of glory (and hell, I would probably scream and go crazy too if I ever was allowed on stage).
Fans of the Test Icicles are the mirror image of this untidy, fun guzzling, band. All ‘grown up’ and slick, having changed their Slipknot hoodies for polka dotted sprayed on jeans and asymetric haircuts, the band provides them with another chance to rock out, mosh, get drunk, get wrecked and yet not seem immature.
In other words,
Wraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! They’re fun!
