The Incredibles

Dir: Brad Bird.
Starring: Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson, Jason Lee.
There's not really much that can be said about a film so good it can happily be described by its own hyperbolic title...
...is what a posh person might say. And I would agree with him/her. The Incredibles is an awesome film - the animation is flawless and the script is both funny and compelling. With Craig T. Nelson (Mr. Incredible), Holly Hunter (Elastigirl), Samuel L. Jackson (Frozone), Jason Lee (Syndrome) and of course writer/director Brad Bird (Edna 'darling' Mole) as the varied voice talents, lines are delivered so well that in some cases the CGI characters are improvements on ordinarily slight acting talents (and in other cases, Brad Bird looks EXACTLY like Mr. Incredible, with the whole heavy brow, blonde hair, thick jaw thing... but not the red and black suit. That would be disconcerting).
The film's release on dvd can only be a good thing. Packed, as all good Disney film dvds are, with exciting stuff - like games and outtakes and commentaries - it poses added enticements to an already brilliant bargain. I've happily watched the film twice and will probably watch it twice more - It caters both for the child of five, with stupid looking characters, and the adult of 20-to-whenever, with the jokes at the super hero imagery of the 60s. Enjoyment is even derived from the silly American Jackalope short which precedes the feature film (and which one would expect that to find on the dvd as well).
Fourteen pounds for The Incredibles to watch WHENEVER I want? Never mind fourteen pounds, I'd sell you my child for that. Plus some.
