Win an Iron worth over £150! - COMPETITION CLOSED

| | Comments (10)

This could be yours!
This competition is now closed. Winning entry below.

-----

Yes! Someone does make irons worth that much, and you could win one!

If you've ever wished you could iron your clothes like a millionaire who hasn't got round to hiring someone else to do the ironing yet, this is the competition for you.

To win a brand new Philips Intellicare Iron ("the iron that does the thinking for you") courtesy of Philips and Handbag.com tell us which person, living or dead you would most like to do the ironing for and why.

Perhaps you'd like to Kiera Knightly's ironing because the thought of steam pressing clothes that were once closer to her than you'll ever be turns you on, or perhaps you'd like to iron Chris Martin's trousers in the hope he has left some scribbled lyrics in his pocket that you can sell to an indie band in need of a comeback song for huge sums of money.

-----

This competition has now ended!

The winner was Moazzam Choudhury who walks away with the most expensive iron I have ever seen!

Moazzam says.... 'I'd love to iron for Mahatma Gandhi, cos it'd be so easy to iron one bit of cloth. Also he wouldn't complain about any creases because that's the kind of guy he was.'

Congratulations!

More stupid prizes coming soon.

Your competitions are getting more bizarre by the day...

this is a rather shameless sell-out

Posted by thefloatingunicorn on November 29, 2005 10:38 PM

Possibly.
But I don't see you giving us any free prizes.

Not that I really understand why we're giving away an iron, but I can't see how this is selling out in any way?

Have we always been anti-iron at Rare FM? Do we have a policy of wearing only creased clothes? (Actually I do - maybe I need the iron)

Some stupid Woman from XFM told us at a conference that they refused to give away a bath because 'that's not what XFM is about'

Well, Rare FM is about being students. Kind of. I guess that includes ironing. Plus, come on, impossible to pass up the opportunity for such a great front page item!

You could say it's selling out because, by allowing Phillips to give us free stuff, we are succumbing to the corporate capitalist machine and will now be less inclined to criticise these immoral institutions of illegitimate power.

You could say that, but that sounds a lot like rhetoric to me so I wouldn't bother.

Three phrases should be among the most common in our daily usage. They are: Thank you, I am grateful and I appreciate.
